austinswamp
Hello, I found this in SE Texas along a river where I regularly find horse, bison, and camel fossils. I thought this one resembles a mastadon leg bone? Also I planned on using vinegar to remove the sediment. Happy to hear any recommendations for preserving this. Thanks
val horn
I am having a hard time seeing what is under the matrix, bone ,tusk or wood and am uncertain of what would dissolve first in vinegar. I would treat the exposed fossil paleobond or even dilute elmers glue then try to physically remove matrix treating the newly exposed fossil as you go

CDiggs
That does bear more than a passing resemblance to a probescidean humerus. Consider me crazy jealous. https://umorf.ummp.lsa.umich.edu/wp/specimen-data/?Model_ID=1090 2
