Hunting trip for Carboniferous crinoids (Ukraine)

Recommended Posts

Hello to all.
Photos from several trips of the past years.
Probably, the age of these finds is the Kasimovian stage of the Carboniferous period (307 Ma).
Despite the fact that many fragments of the crinoids lie on a large area, whole lilies were found only in a small "lens" about 7 * 7 meters in size.
Finds from this lens are in the second part of the publication.

As a Kasimovian hunter who only ever finds single columns and plates, wow!

Impressive! It looks like collectors have been exploiting and creating these exposures for a long time. Have you been able to identify your finds?

Thank you, Roger :)

I tried to identify some well-preserved specimens, but without success

@crinus hasn't been here for a while, bit maybe he could chime in with his expertise.

Wow is right.  Unfortunately I am not familiar with material from the other side of the pond.  It would take some research to determine what you have.
