Shells from Greenwood Lake New York

Loose rock under my feet in about 4 feet of water on the east shore of the lake

Back side of rock is smooth with a patch of iron rust

Nice death assemblage of Mucrospirifer mucronatus:)

Likely Devonian aged. Maybe Lower Devonian.

Very nice. 

Mucrospirifer mucronatus is limited to the Middle Devonian, I think.

Thank you all for that quick response!  We've been piling rocks for the wall on our shoreline for 60 years, with an occasional shell imprint, but nothing of this size and complexity.

Really nice piece. Congratulations on your find. I agree with Tidgy's Dad, that it is Middle Devonian, likely Panther Mountain Formation. Though there is Devonian aged rock in your vicinity, I strongly suspect this was brought down to your area by the glacier.
