Mark Kmiecik
Makes me think proximal end of a mammoth femur, but I'm no expert. Let's let some more knowledgeable folks chime in. 1
Lorne Ledger
looks more like a radius to me - agree with mammoth or other elephant relative. Nice find

Nice find I'm going to disagree with both of these and offer up proboscid distal humerus as a better fit to me eye. http://umorf.ummp.lsa.umich.edu/wp/wp-content/3d/viewer.html?name=B_L_HUM for comparison. digit
I'd say we have a match. I guess it's too late to throw in hummingbird humerus as a contender. Really nice preservation on this piece--wonderful find. Any other fossil bone visible in the area? Might be a place to go back and check for more. Cheers. -Ken 2
jpc
I agree with distal humerus. There are many elephant options in Nebraska including large Miocene things. Nothern NE is heavily Miocene, but Pleistocene cannot be ruled out.. So I can't go beyond elephant family.
