Yes, they are actually pretty easy to find when the condition are right. Best time is low tide when there is more exposed beach and more shell piles visible. It's always been a favorite past time of mine... very relaxing too since you are so focused on looking for the particular shapes among the shells, it just kind of make everything thing else fade out of your mind.
