HUGE 4.95 inch South Carolina Carcharocles chubutensis tooth with caliper
This is one of the largest C. chubutensis teeth I have seen in a while. It is 4.95 inches and discovered in South Carolina. For those of you who may not know, the C. chubutensis is thought to be the direct precursor to the C. megalodon along evolutionary lines, or for those chronospecies fans it would be a form with teeth of the megalodon right before it lost it's cusplets ("right before" in evolutionary terms = many millions of years). Either way, it's a very colorful abd large example of this species.
