Oligocene Fish Plate.



This is a recent eBay aquisition.

It's a multiple fish plate from Poland. Oligocene in age.

The fish represented here are Capros rhenanus .
Probably from the Carpathian Mountains.

I don't generally buy fossils, but these fish are fascinating to me.
There are 4 complete or nearly complete fish on this slab, with the parts of a few others, at least.
These fish were tiny, as you can see.

Nice, I love complexity like this. The very first auction I ever attempted on online was for these small Polish fish. They are compelling. I would "win" the auction but never get the fish since it was always below their reserve amount.
