Fenestella Bryozoan on Native American Artifact

This is a unique piece, it is broken probably either a scraper or blank, with a couple of crinoid ossicle impressions and a nice Fenestella Bryozoan. The piece is worked bifacailly, and the stone is heat treated. It really makes the fossil pop against the background. Different angles showcase better how the fossil was likely intentionally left in place.

Interesting! I'm not aware of many examples of Precolumbian awareness/use of fossils, but I understand the Elrathia trilobites from Utah were traded far and wide across the Great Basin, and I know of one instance of a trilobite from Tanglefoot Creek in Southwestern BC made into an amulet and found somewhere in the middle of the province (far from its source) in a burial or something, I'm scant on details, but it's an interesting subject.
