It took about 45 million, 2 thousand and 11 years and about eight months to find this one after its previous owner lost it.

These were given to me by a friend this summer. They are all Eocene teeth from the River Bend formation in Eastern NC.

My first day ever fossil hunting, I woke up with great anticipation to go to Onslow Beach, had no idea what I was doing or what to look for, and of course didnt find anything! So hopped in the car which was preloaded with gear and drove up to Greenville NC for a long weekend. I got all my gear on and walked down to the creek and jumped in, and sifted sand for about an hour thinking I must be in the wrong creek, or the internet lied to me and there were no fossils left at GMR. So I kept going and moving and failing then I found something strange. A 1" long piece of what I would later identify as a belemnite. Then a broken tooth, JACKPOT! I kept moving around and eventually wound up sitting in the same spot for eight hours. And these are the finds! My first great white is in this picture! If it didnt have sentimental value it would probably no longer be in the collection, but the colors on it are amazing! I never would have thought that day, that that what I was doing would turn into such an addicting hobby!

But my sister will probably never get around to posting them, so here they are. a 2 5/8" great white and a flawless 1 1/4" great white. She found these in a day that I found four perfect ones so it was a great day all around.

The IPhone (Original) had quite the lousy camera on it. The New IPhone 4's camera though is pretty outstanding but at the time I took this picture I had the cursed previous version, which would soon be terminated by falling out of my pocket onto the floor at Texas Roadhouse, and then crushed to death by a passing waitress.

Ok I know you all didnt need that information, but its a 2 3/8" great white. The shape and quality is outstanding, I will have to work on getting a better picture of it, because this photo doesnt do it justice at all.

Found it the weekend after I found my favorite GMR tooth. Until that time I had found absolutely nothing worthwhile except a couple broken teeth, moved to another spot, dug through the sand in the middle of the creek, crunched some gravel and there it was! Then I didnt find anything else after that but one tooth can turn a bad day into a good day!

A couple teeth found on back to back days. Three GMR days in a row I found a Mososaur tooth. My best stretch ever. They are nowhere near that common in GMR so dont think the creek is lined with them!

My first GMR Mososaur Tooth! For a size comparison, the Great white next to it with some of the root still showing is 2 5/8" long. That find made my week!
