This is the Haarlem-Archaeopteryx. It was discovered in 1855 near Riedenburg, Germany and described as a Pterodactylus crassipes in 1857 by von Meyer. 1970 John Ostrom redescribed it as one more specimen of Archaeopteryx. As we all can see, there are many parts missing. So, go on digging...

This is a nice cast of the London specimen of Archaeopteryx lithographica. This specimen was found in 1861 near Langenaltheim as split-pair. Today it is housed in London in the British Museum. The cast I show from our collection is a rare cast from the original find, not prepared. Today it looks really more complete after prepping lot of the body and the skull. This one is the B-side, former pic shows the A-side

After a long time I add a new pic to my album. I show a big grashopper (seems to be Pycnophlebia) in unusual preservation. The wings are spread, normally they are not. Its a big one, total width of the fossil is around 20 cm. Will be prepared one day, still covered with a thin sediment layer

rare Coelacanth in unusual preservation. Seems to be Coccoderma, perhaps part of a meal. Fantastic skin preservation and good skull. Back part and tail got lost in the field, so I do not know how complete it was. Size is approx. 14 cm what you see. Was found in Eichstaett many years ago, comes from an old collection
