Hey guys! I'm sure someone here can help me out. Without going into too much detail, I have a client with a micro jack and they believe it is a micro jack 2. It's about 10-12 years old (maybe even older, I'm not sure) and the writing on it has worn off so it can't be identified. I'm convinced it is a micro jack 1 and that because they are under the belief it is a 2 they are using the wrong spring and potentially stylus for it (they can never seem to get it to work properly). I was just wondering if the design of the 2 or 1 has changed much over the last 15 years? I've attached a picture of the tool they believe to be MJ2. I did look on the PaleoTools website and the design of the 1 does look a little different to this one - this appears to have the same head as a 2/3. Another thought I had is that they've made a Frankenstein tool and using the wrong head for it as well

Hello Forum, I've been working on some beginner Trilobites I've been able to buy from a local Rock Store. Most are not in a good state of preservation but are fun to work on and learn. The bug below has a waxy coating on it and I'm wondering if someone can tell me what that is, and also the best way to clean it off. I scribed down to the shell with an air tool, and now I'm just using a pin vise to scrap away as much as I can. Is this the best approach?

Hey everyone! I have a lot of fossils that I need to prepare from the White River Formation and was wondering what the best air scribe is to prep that type of matrix. The matrix can get very tough to breakthrough. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hey everyone! I am looking for an air scribe to help remove matrix from fossils I am prepping. I am looking at the Fossil Shack Air Scribe since it is within my budget and looks effective. Does anyone know if it is good? I am looking to prep White River formation matrix and Lance formation matrix. Thanks!

Hey just a quick question so I've been hunting around and it seems like an air scribe is the way to go I found a brand new Chicago 9361 used and picked it up it has lots of carbide chisels and engraving tips but it has nothing with a really sharp tip. Where do you find tips for these? That are more geared for fossil prep? I typically dont grab a tool before I know how to use it but it was 75$ from somone clearing out a shop and it had never been used. Also I'm in Canada if that makes much of a difference for retailers?

Greeting to ALL! I purchased a used Chicago Pneumatic CP-9361 air scribe and it WAS working fine. Since I know nothing about the maintenance history of this scribe, I can only assume that a rebuild is required. Having never performed this rebuild before, I am asking for your assistance/guidance. For starters, how do I remove the little "c-ring" retention clip to open the tool? THANKS in advance! Dave
