I'm not sure, but I found what I think is the top of a bison skull with the horns. I found it in central Iowa, sitting on a sand bank in the middle of a river/creek. Could someone tell me if it is? The horns are kind of straighter like an ancient bison, could someone estimate the age and tell me if they think it is? The horn spread is just over 21 inches. It seems pretty old and almost fossilized. Thanks for any help in figuring it out. I'm really interested in what you have to say.

Hi to all. Today i found this tooth in the stream in the middle of the Forest. Last time when i was there,i found one huge oyster.So the question is:Is this a Bison tooth or not? The one on the right side i found on the road near the forest,it's also heavy as this one from the stream. If someone can help, it would be much appreciated

Hello! I found this mandible yesterday in a creek in Linn County, IA. It reminds me of a modern whitetail deer, but I'm not sure. One thing that stands out to me is that the middle tooth has three labial lobes. I have a modern whitetail doe adult to compare it too (see last picture), but only the end tooth has three labial lobes. Does that mean this isn't a whitetail deer or is that normal genetic variation? Total length of mandible (broken): 83 mm Thickness of mandible: 19 mm Width of tallest tooth: 20 mm Thickness of tallest tooth: 9.4 mm Thanks! @Harry Pristis

Today I wanted to participate in the fossil of the month, but I read that I must have found the fossil itself - too bad - so I present it to you here: my coworker made with his daughter during the summer holidays on the Baltic coast in southern Denmark and found this wonderful tooth - 4,5 * 3,0 * 1,20 cm. Unfortunately, I do not know what it is, I suspect that it is a glacial Bison tooth - possibly from another herbivore. Knowing that I treasure and collect fossils, he left the piece to me. I would be very happy about a more precise ID. I appreciate your comments - Thank you, Christain

Zdravo to all! Again with some archeological finds! Found these two teeth with so many pottery and other bones side by side.I'm thinking that these two are maybe from a Fox (canine) and this bigger one may be from a Bos...If u can give me some tips about this it would be nice as always. P.s. U can clearly see that this canine has a hole in it so it was probably for the necklace. Thanks

I am with a construction crew building a bridge in North Dakota. I found this tooth while excavating one of the proposed piers in a sand layer approximately 20 ft down from the original ground. The sand layer also has 3 inch clams around it as well. The river channel was man made in this area where the tooth was found back in the 70’s and the original river channel is about 1500 ft away. However this area we are excavating appears to be original ground. The tooth is fairly large and was found next to a vertebrae as well. I am thinking this could either be bovine or bison. Any ideas?

Hi! I'm confused a bit? Is this fossil or not? It's little heavy than normal tooth,btw I try the burning test on some edges and it burns but doesn't smell like a burning bone and on some it doesn't burn at all..As u see the part underneath looks mineralized and it doesn't burn.If u can help some how,maybe some other test?

Found this years ago in Myrtle beach South Carolina, I thought it was a bison molar but I've seen some fossilized camel teeth recently that looked possibly closer to my tooth, any ideas are welcome!

I found this tooth in a dry creek bed in NE Iowa. The area I found it in is unique due to the fact that even though it is surrounded by farmland, the sheer rock bluffs and rock overhangs cut by the little creek over the centuries made this area unsuitable for farming. Northeast Iowa was apparently missed by many of the ice advances during the Ice Age so the area as a whole has a much older surface geology than found anywhere else in the state. The tooth is between 1 1/16” and 1 3/16” in all measurements. It looks too old to be from a cow though I’m sure they have been in the area since first settled. The closest thing I’ve found myself online is a tooth from a prehistoric camel. Any help IDing it would be much appreciated!

I found these bones in Wilbur Oregon , while blackberry picking . i found bones sticking out of the ground. two bone sites about ten ft apart , they look like bison but i am really confused about the skull. can anyone identify these ? i would like to sell them. i have many bones from the site.

This was found in the northern end of the Sacramento Valley. I’m curious if it’s bison or cow. This area would be on the border of the bison range, but the area was used frequently by the Native Americans. It could be a possibility that it was imported in ancient times.

I found this tooth on a sandbar on the Missouri River near St. Louis, MO. I did some research to identify and the information I find on the stylid isn't clear to me. Can anyone clearly identify what animal the tooth is from?

Found these teeth/jaw bone in a Florida creek. I researched it to be of Bison teeth which would make sense but found some similarities of Camel which would be interesting to find in Florida. I was wondering about what years it may be from?

Hey all, I found this in a creek in southeast Nebraska today while looking for geodes and although I wasn’t sure at first I’m fairly certain it is at least partially fossilized. (Waiting for it to dry out completely for a more definitive answer on that front). I was pretty sure it was bovid, but am having trouble matching it to a specific vertabra of either modern cow or bison. Since I believe it to be fossilized I thought maybe I should explore other possibilities, but haven’t had any luck. Any input would be appreciated.

Hi all, Recently my brother and I were on the Republican River in NE Kansas after the water went down a little and found a bunch of bones and bottles. I am having trouble determining some of the bones as bison or cow, so I need your help here. And also, we found what I think is a claw, measuring about an inch in length. Thanks for the help, and let me know if you need more pics. Cow or Bison lower leg? I think its bison; it is pretty heavy and seems to be well mineralized, but not completely fossilized. Hi all, I recently found a bunch of vertebrae on a river in NE Kansas. I have found parts from deer, cow and bison here. I do not know how to distinguish bovid vertebrae as well as some of you all do, so I need your help. I will follow up with more pics.
