I have four finds from the Peace River that I have not been able to ID. They have been picked up on two recent visits to the river and I have been searching on line and on the Forum for a match without success. At least one may just be a suggestively shaped rock. I am pretty confident the other three are bone but I have not been able to figure them out. Came up with the astragulus and phalange possibilities looking through textbook materials. I would appreciate any ideas from some of our more experienced Forum veterans. First up the possible astragulus that measures 52mm x 48
Hi all, I was hoping to get an ID on these two bones I found today. They both have a stylus and at least 2 facets for articulation. I’m guessing maybe some foot bones? -also I’ve been gluing this long bone together with some paraloid B-72. I have both distal and proximal heads, but without knowing the type of bone, you can imagine it’s difficult to piece together. I just have finished all but those two aspects, I have roughly about 5” of bone left and I’m currently at about 17” in total length. Could it be to a camel? What bone may this be? thanks in advance!
The Brazos River is down enough to hunt some again in my area. This is a find from yesterday, sandy gravel matrix in the river. Pleistocene era. I'm thinking it looks like a spinous process from a large vertebrae, but I'm not positive. I'm also unclear on size differences and other distinctions that could help me narrow down the species. I was thinking possibly bison or camel. Any ideas would be great.
