    Camelid molar?

I don't find many land mammal teeth, so I haven't learned them yet. Found this one yesterday near Summerville in a creek that has Oligocene, Miocene and I believe Pleistocene layers in the banks. Tooth is 17mm side to side x 8mm thick. Looking on the forum (and @Harry Pristis's awesome tooth and jaw gallery), I'm guessing camelid m3, but I could be wrong. Thank you!

    Mammalian Tooth fragment?

Greetings all, I found this bone Fragment on Jones Island, South Carolina. I was thinking/hoping it may be a fragment of the base of a mastodon tooth. Does anyone have any thoughts on this piece?

    Help with deformed tooth

I found this tooth yesterday and thought bison right away. But it appears to be deformed and or broken so it caused me to doubt my ID. I would appreciate feedback on what others think. The crown of the tooth measures 12mm x 20 mm and is 10mm tall. Thanks!

    Hoof Core?

Had a pretty good day on the Peace River, FL yesterday. Wanted to get one more hunt in before the temps dropped to the point it was just too cold to stand in the river all day even with a wetsuit. Find included deer teeth, camel/llama premolar, peccary tooth crown, gator teeth and the usual assorted shark teeth. I also came up with what I believe is the hoof core pictured below. After going through numerous photos on line and on the Forum I thought it was too big tube deer and too small to be bison, the shape didn't fit for horse. That left me with camelid as a possibility. I would greatly appreciate opinions on whether camelid hoof core is a good ID. Thanks! Specimen measures 44mm long x 41mm wide x 21mm high -

    Please help with bone id

Another bone I found in the Peace River, Fl yesterday. I appears to me to be a scapula /shoulder bone. I have looked at many so far and while I think the ones I have seen support my hypothesis I can’t find a good clear match. The specimen measures 97 mm long by 80 mm wide tapering to 18 mm. It is 23 mm thick tapering to 4 mm. Any input would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Help with ID on 4 unknowns

I have four finds from the Peace River that I have not been able to ID. They have been picked up on two recent visits to the river and I have been searching on line and on the Forum for a match without success. At least one may just be a suggestively shaped rock. I am pretty confident the other three are bone but I have not been able to figure them out. Came up with the astragulus and phalange possibilities looking through textbook materials. I would appreciate any ideas from some of our more experienced Forum veterans. First up the possible astragulus that measures 52mm x 48mm x 46mm Next up the one that may just be a suggestively shaped rock. It measures 60mm x 30mm x 40mm: The third is a possible phalange? Measures 38mm x 37mm x 18mm; Lastly, an oddball shaped one that I think may be the end of a limb bone? It measures 43mm x 37mm x 30mm; Thanks for looking, any comments would be appreciated! Jim W.
  8. Hi all, I was hoping to get an ID on these two bones I found today. They both have a stylus and at least 2 facets for articulation. I’m guessing maybe some foot bones? -also I’ve been gluing this long bone together with some paraloid B-72. I have both distal and proximal heads, but without knowing the type of bone, you can imagine it’s difficult to piece together. I just have finished all but those two aspects, I have roughly about 5” of bone left and I’m currently at about 17” in total length. Could it be to a camel? What bone may this be? thanks in advance!

    Vertebral spinous process?

The waterways are down enough to hunt some again in my area. This is a find from yesterday, sandy gravel matrix in the river. Pleistocene era. I'm thinking it looks like a spinous process from a large vertebrae, but I'm not positive. I'm also unclear on size differences and other distinctions that could help me narrow down the species. I was thinking possibly bison or camel. Any ideas would be great.
