Brevicollis posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
I saw this Abelisaurid jaw for sale today, the description says its real, but theres something wrong about it . The jaw looks like If its from a different specimen or found alone and then the teeth got placed in because of the weird gap in between the jaw and the teeth .- 3 replies

Hi everybody. First of all thanks in advance for your help with my question. The pictures are of a tooth I bought from Morrison formation of moffat county. The tooth is labeled torvosaurus and is very large at almost 4 inches. It is not in the greatest condition though and appears t have some gap fill and is missing the majority of the enamel. I understand the tooth is not in great condition but I’m wondering if it at least looks to be all from the same tooth and not a Frankentooth. It seems to have similar texture and root etchings up to about 75% up the tooth. At that point it’s a little different and that’s where the gap fill is. However it seems the enamel on this part matches the enamel of what remains on the other part of the tooth. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks! Dean

Members, during a trip to Brazil almost 20 years ago, I purchased this composit of 4 different fossilized fish. The fossils of the fish look authentic and I tried to take photos to demonstate the relief of each fish. But I beleive they were "arranged" into this one piece. Not sure if and how getting 4 fossils into one piece is done. I am more interested in knowing if the fish are indeed authentic and what the individual species of each are? Also, is it possible to gague what period they are from? I am hoping someone will tell me that I did not haul this 10 lb piece back to the US in vain. Thanks in advance. I look forward to any response and hope everyone is safe and well. Respectfully, Dubs

Spinosaurus tooth composit?
Baryonyx posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
So a seller was offering me these teeth, the biggest is about 13,5cm long. I am interested in the long one wich looks like it is fully rooted. But the question is is it a composit? -
I have bought composits before, just didnt know it at the time. While at Quartzite selling some rocks ive had for many years, (nice to get rid of some stuff), I ran into this ammonite composit from Madagascar. I was very impressed by this piece! I know the lady that sells all this madagascar stuff and how she works. She had $1600 on this piece but I already knew that that means she wants $800 for it. I left and thought about it that night. I went back the next morning and offered her $400 for it. Just playing the game. The absolule lowest she would take was $550 and I broke down and payed that amount. The picture does NOT do it justice. All these ammos are really very colorful, but im still going to rework their fako rock to make the piece look better and then do a number on the ammo themselves to really make them shine! Gunna be a very nice fire place for sure!!! My very first composit. RB
