I have here two teeth from North Florida. Larger one is 1.18" long and 0.25" wide; smaller one is 1" long and 0.28" wide. My guess was coyote or wolf, would these be accurate? Thank you, Bellamy

Hi, I have here a tooth, Neolithic (6,500 - 12,000 years old). It is described as indeterminate canine from Voulgézac, France. It is 4 cm in length. Is there any way to say which species it could be from? Thank you, Bellamy

Hi, i purchased this canine today as a coyote canine, but it’s 1 3/4 inches long which seems big to me, I’m torn between red wolf and coyote. @Shellseeker @Bone Daddy @PODIGGER @Harry Pristis. TIA

When I picked this up I assumed it was modern domestic dog. However, there is a little bit of cancellous bone on the labial side that does not feel spongy at all. It is fairly mineralized. I’ve tried comparing this between domestic dog and coyote And see similarities to both. Please help if you can!

I found this in a creek bottom in central Ohio after a flood that caused extensive erosion. I'm thinking it might be a fox or coyote, but really don't know. I was hoping someone with more expertise in this area could assist me in identifying it. Thanks, Mark

Publication on Canis latrans in Maryland
Kentrcarlson posted a topic in Partners in Paleontology - Member Contributions to Science
Hi All. I found what I think is a canis latrans (coyote) carnassial tooth in the intertidal sand of a spot on the Chesapeake bay. I'm looking to co-author up with anyone who wants to help out with a short review of the tooth and prehistoric coyote distribution in the area. I'd post whatever is written in the forum and research gate. From what I understand, canis latrans has only been reported from one other place in Maryland (Cumberland bone cave). Kent- 4 replies
