Hi, always from the Omhden (DE) quarry. I'm wondering what this dark mineral actually could be... I'll report 2 different speciments, both about 10-15cm in length. They have little white "spiderweb" across the dark lucid surface. it is like 1mm thick this could be really useful for beginners like me thanks a lot Paolo

Hi, My name is Neal, I found this rock on the side of a railroad bed near Caro, MI. It is heavy for it's size, and has quite a bit of porosity to it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!

What kind of mix is this? It is solid (I mean I can not tear it apart with my nails). Photos are from both sides. I found it on the beach of Vila Real de Santo António, Algarve, Portugal. Thank you.

I believe it is a dinosaur bone because it was sticky and smooth on both ends. the rock does not have holes or pores in it though, so I am not really sure if it is a fossil or not. I would be very grateful if you guys could tell me!

Okay folks. This one, I have no clue. The information that was given to me was nominal. That being Western United States, purchased at an Estates sale. I, by all means, am not looking for an exact identification. I'm trying to figure out 1)why is it so dark?/ 2)Dino. versus post dino. mammal? 3)What part of the creature? I'm guessing distal extremity. Thanks!

I have a few fish fossils here that are in a dark colored matrix. I do not know what species they are, nor how old. You can see scales preserved on them, which I think is pretty interesting. Any information about them would be very appreciated! Thank You!!

Found in the fill of railroad bed. The nearest cut, a good match to the rock type and carbonate nodules found there, is mapped as the forks formation. This is Ludlow aged turbidite. I have reason to believe that this exact area was not included in the study though. The phyla list includes no corals, but I find them abundantly.

Hello , I live in Michigan and I found this rock in our creek a while back and was curious, Is this a petoskey stone? One side has holes the other has scratches like. Whitish also. Rusty?. It was buried in sand. Thanks for the help if possible .

Hello. I signed up this evening after I looked over the board. As knowledgeable as the members here are I was hopeful you could help me. I know nothing about fossils, except they're mostly really old. Anyway, the ones in the pictures are from the Middle East (at least that's what my friend said). I tried to get the picture as clear as I could. I hope it's up to par. And thank you for your help! Greg.
