I as well am just getting my feet wet and hoping to learn without being shredded apart for being so wrong. Lol. I am in SE NM rural part and have so many fossils, artifacts, effigies (I think). Just want clarity before they start hitting my shops. Some of today's favorites:

Hi! I've been a great admirer of this forum for years. The counter-septarian structure thread... *chef's kiss* My brother-in-law sent me this picture and asked if I thought it might be a dinosaur fossil. I told him probably not, but that I knew just where to ask to find out what it is, or might be. All I have is this photo, but based on the circular kitchen-thing it's sitting on I'm guessing maybe around 8-10" in size. My uninformed guess is it's a plant stem if it's anything. I'd love to read your educated guesses. THANKS!!!

Hello all! I will use this post to serve two purposes: introduction and fossil logging. I am a 19 year old boy from Northern Va. who recently joined this community after eyeing down old posts trying to find a general idea about how/where/when to begin fossil hunting. After a little research, I finally embarked on my first journey Dec 2018 and have been hooked on fossil hunting since. Now, I found this collection of fossils 12/26/19 at Matoaka Beach Cabins after 3 hours and with the help of my sister. Feel free to comment whatever, ask anything, or whatever else may brewing in your head. - Timmy.

Hello, I'm Jess. I'm currently an undergraduate student studying biology with a concentration in natural history. I started working in fossil preparation a few months ago after being given a green river fish to work on by a professor at my school. I loved working on it so much that I signed up for a class on museum work and now work on fish fossil prep several days a week. I was drawn to paleontology because of my interest in modern dinosaurs, birds!

Yulee is just north of Jacksonville. (No one knows where Yulee is.) My daughter and I frequently hit the beach on Amelia Island and Ponte Vedra looking for shark teeth. I find it a fun and relaxing hobby.
