  1. Hi again Folks, the King of the Worn-Down Shark Teeth here; ’Found this among the shark teeth today and I decided to ask the Experts before throwing it away.😀 Measurement in centimeters. Thanks.
  2. Hello, Can anyone please help me identifying the attached item? It’s about 2cm long and appears to be a fossilized tooth of some sort. Thank you. Jon
  3. I found these today and I can’t find similar things in any references. once more, I truly appreciate your assistance and patience. Jon.
  4. Hi, Everyone. We found some more odd fossils yesterday and I decided to put a few out for identification. I added a shot of all of them together next to a centimeter ruler for size and comparison, the rest are individual items. One looks an awful lot like a pecan, but turned out to be a brown, striated stone. As always, I’m here to learn. Thanks. Jon

    Beach Find, Another Tooth

Please help identifying this tooth. Unfortunately, I went past my phone’s photo capabilities but I hope the shape and serrated edge give some clue. The tooth is 1.3” long.

    Very Weird Beach Find

Hello, Brilliant Experts; ’Found this today. It’s about 1.7 inches and composed of varied patterns of stone. I appreciate any insight.
  10. Hi, Everyone! A belated Merry Christmas and best wishes for the New Year. It’s warm and intermittently sunny in Venice, Florida so it’s beach time. Here are some new finds and better pictures of some old finds. I still have no idea what these things are.

Odd Fossil I Find Around Here

Hi Everyone; Attached is an odd little number I keep coming across that I can’t identify for the life of me. It’s about 3cm long and 1.5 cm thick. Thanks.
  15. Hi Folks! Been meaning to post some new finds and questions and finally settled down enough to start. Item #1: top side is boring and round and appears to be a rock. But then you flip it over and go Hmmmmm!
  16. Hello again! Yesterday’s finds we’re another learning experience but I AM learning, so here goes. Wife found this today on Venice Beach in Florida. It was deposited more-less at our feet by a wave (it’s choppy today.) I think it looks more like somebody dropped it and it’s a fake. Any thoughts? measurements in centimeters.

    Is this a shark tooth?

I just found this on the beach and honestly thought it was a shark tooth but didn’t realize only fossilized shark teeth are black. Is this a shark tooth? And if so, what kind? (The last picture is the inside and there is a fairly deep groove). Found in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
  18. Hi, Fellow Fossil Folks. Are any of these things more than rocks?
  19. Hi again, everyone. Being the unashamed newbie that I am, I have some beach finds from around Venice, Florida that may be PORs (Plain Ol’ Rocks) or fossilized thingies. ‘Look familiar to anyone?
  20. Please help. I’m new to the area, having retired from Europe in October ‘23. I’m finding lots of teeth but also some odd items. Can anyone help ID this odd little fossil? It’s about 3/4 “ X 3/4”. Thanks
  21. Good evening, everyone. Does anyone have any book recommendations for fossil identification in general, but particularly for Mississippi or the Gulf Coast of the United States? I have Roadside geology of Mississippi, and it's been a great resource for some elements, but I'm looking for something a bit more detailed. Thank you! Jenn
  22. Hi, I have some beach specimens to explore and ID, but I’m having trouble determining the geologic age to know where to start. Can age be determined for specimens washed ashore (or could they potentially have arrived from anywhere)? Perhaps the maps/surveys makes the answer obvious, but I’m still confused and curious. My location of interest (green arrows) is labeled as ‘undetermined’ on the 1st pic. Screenshot is subpar, but that is how the site looks on my phone). The last pic is an example of my specimens. Grateful for your help. Steph

    Claw/tooth/horn?

What is this? Found on the beach. Very fragile. Even handling for the photos was hazardous Thanks for looking.
  24. Found on Florida beach. Asphalt or fossil conglomerate? Thanks for looking.
