Hey all! My name is Ian and I'm excited to be part of this community! My friends and I are organising a trip to the isle of skye and we're headed on our first fossil hunting trip. We're looking for advice on what to bring, what to look out for and if there are local guides in the area that can show us around

Dinosaur stomping ground in Scotland reveals thriving middle Jurassic ecosystem
msantix posted a topic in Fossil News
Dinosaur fossils from the mid Jurassic are generally rare but the Isle of Skye in Scotland has revealed fossils sites preserving around 50 footprints on ancient coastal mudflats. The footprints suggest that Stegosaurs and possible ancient cousins of duck billed dinosaurs were living in the Isle of Skye around 170mya along with large Sauropods & Carnivores, suggesting a high diversity of dinosaurs from the mid Jurassic in Scotland. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2020/03/200311140536.htm?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+sciencedaily%2Ffossils_ruins%2Fpaleontology+(Paleontology+News+--+ScienceDaily) The Journal article is listed below and is open access https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0229640 1. dePolo PE, Brusatte SL, Challands TJ, Foffa D, Wilkinson M, Clark NDL, et al. Not much is published on UK theropod teeth so its nice to see this one. Although the teeth are not in the best shape its good to understand what clads are being found. This paper reports on two new isolated theropod teeth discovered on the Isle of Skye, Scotland representing at least two species. https://sjg.lyellcollection.org/content/early/2019/04/30/sjg2018-020

Got this at Bearreraig bay on the Isle of skye a few years ago and have always just assumed the ammonites are all the same species and Ludwigia murchisonae but decided to seek some clarification on this, any help would be much appreciated (the biggest ammonite is 10.5cm)
