Hello everyone, Any idea what this might be? I picked it up at Kettleness Beach on a fossil hunting trip in Whitby a few weeks ago. It definitely seems unusual—my first thought was bone, but I have no idea. Thanks for the help! It’s always been a dream of mine to hunt in the UK, so it was definitely an exciting trip. IMG_8437.mov

Had a walk from Runswick Bay to Kettleness and back yesterday, found some nice ammonites, a few belemnites, bivalves etc. Not sure what this is, if anything. Is anyone able to identify it from the pictures? For those unfamiliar with the area it’s close to Whitby, an area known for Jurassic marine fossils

Found this on the foreshore at Kettleness yesterday (where incidentally there were far less fossils than I have ever seen there a dozen times or more) As anyone any idea what species it is? Apart from this only a couple of the usual Dactilyoceras Peter Ryder

Made a start on a piece of water rolled bone block from Kettleness Yorkshire. Looking like Ichthyosaur femur? loads of what could be small ribs and ammonites mixed into the mix. Hard going matrix very tough and the bone pings off easily.

Typical pyrite preservation from this area in a concretion. This is the index fossil for the semicelatum subzone.
