Heading down to Charleston SC, can anyone share locations or spots where I have a good chance of finding a Meg ? I can’t scuba dive so that’s out of the question. I was just in Florida and we only found some fragments in the Peace River :/

okay so been tryin to do this for a long time i have a few areas picked out well its 200 square miles but looks good to me from 20 maps and google any body have any creeks or streams they would recommend other than the piece river I'm not a diver going to be me a shovel and some waders looking for info a general area to go to

Hi everyone, last Friday I went on a fossil hunting trip in S.C. with palmetto fossil excursions, there was a short hike out to the site, it was a beautiful day with an average temp of 85 degrees!!! when we were walking up to the creek area where we were hunting and we found half of what would have been a beautiful 3 1/2 inch meg tooth!!!! less than 15 minutes after that my brother found a massive blade of a mako, less then 10 feet away from the blade of the mako I found a nearly flawless posterior and several other angustidens including one with insane colors, a worn whale vert, an awesome hemi with beautiful colors, and 3 fused shark verts!!! after a short lunch break, me and my brother went to a different spot where I found 2 1 1/2 inch Isurus desori teeth and my brother found a angustiden in matrix, a hastalis and the best desori tooth from the trip all within 7 feet of each other!!!! while our dad was doing the dig tour, he found 2 megs the larger one is a little below the five inch mark, and the shorter one is around 3 1/2 inches!!! overall it was an awesome day!!!!! I’ll post pictures of the best finds alone soon. and there was only one water moccasin spotted!!!

My question is below but here is a brief intro! Thank you all for the great insight into fossil hunting. I'm Josh, from Florida and have been hunting relics for about 5 years now (27yo), from metal detecting to surface hunting. Just a hobby that I do occasionally, mostly to learn about the history of our land and try to preserve it before it's all worn away. I find the research in hunting almost more fun than the actual craft. Although, it's tough here in FL to be caught "preserving history" .....give me a break. Anyways, i've been lucky enough to have a job as a Surveyor which has put me in places that I hate sometimes.... but also gives me access to pieces of land that a lot of hunters dream of in FL. I've been able to find old bottles, arrowheads, and relics at work without the hassle of getting permissions(that would be mostly impossible to get otherwise). So when i'm hunting on my time I always find it so hard to find places to do so freely. Anyways, enough about me. Here is my question regarding a potential megalodon tooth site, definitely shark tooth site. I've found some nice dredging in my area, with dredge disposal management area listed on the bid. It's accessible from what I can tell on the maps but labeled as "District-Owned" and overseen by General Contractor/Engineer. Has anyone hunted a site like this in Florida? It's essentially a dredge spoil island with management. If so, did you wait for the project to finish and come in after? Approach the site manager? Hunt it without permission? Thank you for any insight, it's greatly appreciated!

Hello all, I'm going to Cuba in a few weeks and, if possible, would like to acquire some Cuban megalodon teeth while over there. I've done a little research but have only turned up what the formation is called that they are generally found in. Considering that I'll only have about 3 days there, I'm not against just buying them from locals if they're available. Does anyone have any knowledge of where I should go outside of the formation itself (not even sure if I'd have access to it)? Anyone know if its possible to dig there?

I’m Located in Savannah, GA but take day trips to Summerville, SC often. We find very good teeth here in Savannah including Megs at our more secret islands on the banks. I usually go with my wife and son but I wanted to find better spots in Summerville to take my kid instead of taking the boat to the islands. Would anybody want to swap spots with me? I would take you on the boat to the islands we hunt from if I can get some inside where to go in summerville.

Hello! This is my first posting in this forum. I'm coming down to the charleston area and hoping to find some meg teeth and other fossils. I have done lots of dives for them but haven't found any (people in my group have found them). I'm interested to find some land sites. I'll be traveling in my van and will have a nice inflatable kayak and snorkeling gear with me. Let me know if you have any advice or want to meet up Mar 1-8 and go on an adventure hunt. Any fossils I find will be used in my general and environmental biology class I teach a a local community college here in Greensboro! Thanks! - Shawn

Hey All! Had a lazy day today so finally got some time to post my Peace River canoeing/fossil trip I went on end of Feb. I went 4 days and 3 nights on the Peace River canoeing, camping, and fossil hunting. We dropped in Wauchula and ended in Arcadia. We had a blast and found some good stuff along the way. This is my 4th year going down there and my first trip where I found my biggest and best condition meg! My buddy had never been fossil hunting (except once to Mazon Creek, pit 11 with me) and he found his first small meg on the river. We saw a lot of wildlife, paddled a lot of water, and shoveled a lot of river bottom. Here's my material from the trip. Enjoy! Armadillo band/scutes, glyptodont scute and tail scute (one of my favorites!), whale bulla, tortoise spur, random bone, and tusk material Jaw (recent deer??), alligator teeth, snake vert, sloth teeth pieces, gator osteoderm (a favorite), and small random bones Peccary tusk??, capybara tooth piece, reconstructed deer antler, horse teeth, piece of petrified wood mammoth tooth pieces (I think same tooth), mastodon enamel pieces, shell (id?) turtle neural pieces, soft shell turtle pieces, gar scale, ray teeth/plate pieces, ray barbs turtle turtle turtle! These are my unknowns glass bottle (any ideas w age on this one???), bone piece? skull bone??, very worn vert of what?

Hi everyone, I would like to learn how to repair a 6' megalodon tooth I have in my possession. About 40% is missing, but the remaining tooth is not half bad. I do not know where to start as far as tools and materials go. I am an experienced painter and sculptor so hopefully that comes in handy? Also, I recently repaired a shattered triceratops rib, so I have a tiny bit of experience with fossil repair. Although, I am sure that shark teeth are entirely different. So....does anyone have any experience with repairing fossil meg teeth? Is it a complex process? What tools and materials do I need? I would really like to do this. I've heard it takes practice and experience, but I think it would be an interesting challenge. Thanks so much! Lauren Sorry in advance for the lousy picture(s)...
