    Our final fossil outing before the snow blanketed the region: lower middle Devonian Hamilton Group Mount Marcy Formation. From Elks Memorial Park Skyline Drive, the fossil bed itself has a spirifer type corroded out leaving a punky rock full of casts but above and below the bed the hard rock yielded these two, FOV 3" . Near Huguenot pic 1:a plant bit and 1/4" Chonetes? (right edge near apex of rock)], pic 2 plate with clams.9"x6" and pic 3 , 1/2" Tentaculites? cast. The assortment of fossils common to The Hamilton Group from Guide To The Geology of John Boyd Thatcher Park, Winifred Goldring NYS Paleontologist 1933, 1997 reprint available from NYS Museum Pubs.
