Please help me to identify the bone found on the shores of the North Sea in the Netherlands. Between Zandmotor and Hoek van Holland beaches. The bone is quite heavy and hard. The surface of the bone is not matte, but more shiny. The porous tissue inside the wide side of the bone is a little fragile. (scale on the photos is in centimeters) I would be grateful if you could help me find out who the bone belongs to, what part of the body it belongs to, and its approximate age.

I found this two years ago at the North sea (Maasvlakte 2 in the Netherlands) at sand suppletions. It's known for finding megafauna mostly mammoth and rhino. The finds on the beaches are early Pleistocene to Holocene, depending on where the sand was gathered (it's pumped from kilometers in sea). Rarely, older pieces can make their way there by rivers. I can't figure out this piece, even if it is fossil or not. Hopefully someone can help. Length is 5 cm.

Hi folks, Let me introduce myself. My name is anita and I'm from the Netherlands. Two weeks ago I went for a walk with my little son (he is facinated by fossils) at the ENCI-quarry in Maastricht, Netherlands. He has found a total of two "wierd" stones or fossils and we would like to know what they are. Fossil number 1) This stone had a wierd shape. We thought there might be a fossil in here. When I smashed it open at home there was a petrified ball in this stone? We found this stone along a marl/limestone quarry. Fossil number 2) It looks like there is an imprint of a fossil in this stone. Could this be a print of a piece of branch/wood or a belemnite? We found this stone on the footpath. One problem: of both fossils I do not know the geological era. We are very curious to hear your opinion Kind regards. PS, here is the link to a website about the ENCI area in English. Maybe this helps.

Last week I was on holiday in the Netherlands and found some nice things, especially shark teeth ! I was at the area of Antwerp, in Cadzand, in Vlissingen and at the Zandmotor near Den Haag. In this topic I want to show my finds from my visit at the Zandmotor. The Zandmotor is artificial peninsula, constructed as part of the Dutch coastal defense system. The sand originates from about 10 kilometers offshore, and contains bones of various land mammals from the Quaternary period. On my visit I found some bone fragments, two shark teeth and some more things .... Here are two pictures of the found location: Firstly I want to show my best bone from there. Its an 4 cm long Phalanx and I have no idea from which animal it comes from. I hoped that I would find some more bones and maybe even a mammal tooth but maybe next time Then secondly I was very happy about my two shark teeth I found because they seem to be very rare there. Although they are quite worn The first one is 3 cm long: And the second one is 2 cm long and damaged on the other side: Another very common find there are fish vertebrae. The ones I found: They are not big (the biggest one is 2.5 cm long) Furthermore I found a beautiful tooth plate (?) of a fish: (3.6 cm long) And last but not least two Pectenids: Some more reports will follow (maybe in other threads...) Hope you enjoyed my pictures and thanks for viewing !!!
