Hi Folks, Ran into this little guy 10 mins into our trip to the brooks yesterday, never seen anything like it. I believe this is a Ghost Shrimp but I could use a second set of eyes on it. Additionally, I'm wondering how I should prep the little guy - I believe 95% of the fossil is an internal mold as the fragile black shell appears to be the top layer with much of it being worn away. As such I don't think I can reveal much more by chipping away at the rock. would love to hear some thoughts Pic: In Field Other views

If I come across a rather large cache of various fossils in an undocumented area, do I need to report it? More context. They are all "parts and pieces". Scutes, teeth (no sharks), jaws, bones, fins, crushing teeth etc. They were in a branch of a stream that also held the first unearthed Hadrosaurus about a mile away. They were all on the surface within about 1/2 mile from one another. Most are pretty river worn but there are also a lot of keepers and even a few potentially museum-quality pieces. Should I report my findings or quietly open up a new web store- Thagomizers, etc.® (It's mostly osteoderms) Thanks in advance for your help.

Hey I found this in big brook. Not sure what it’s from or if it’s recent, but definitely bone. Kind of looks like turtle material but I’m not sure. Thanks!

Can anyone help me identify the two sharks teeth I found this past year. Both were found in the beaches in Northern Ocean County in New Jersey. Thank you!

Hi all. I wanted to share this chub tooth I found towards the end of 2021. From Monmouth, NJ, I think Kirkwood formation. One of my targeted species for the year and was able to find one in about 20 hrs worth of searching.

Hello Fossil Folks.. Wondering if there is enough here to make an identification. All items were found in NJ along the bays of the beautiful locale of Monmouth County. Most everything I pick up is very sea worn, however, a lot have similar form and are the of the same texture. Many remind me of little tree trunks, some are flat like the ends of a paddle with a little curve, and few are round like fingers. Other finds I can easily id, like fossil clams and coprolite, but these I’m curious to know what they might consist of, or what they may have originated from. Maybe they aren’t even fossils. What I do know is that they are unique in that I have never found anything like them in the cretaceous brooks. So here goes, I did my best with the pics. Another thing that makes it hard to id stuff is that most everything is the same black or brown marl color. Thank you!

Hi all... I was sorting my finds from Big Brook, NJ, over the years and had a few whatzits. I'd much appreciate any insights you might be able to provide. The one in the middle looks similar (to me at least) to a hadrosaur tooth, but I don't like jumping to conclusions. The others... I couldn't even guess! Thanks for the look. (Scale in centimeters)

Hello, I found this rock in a creek in Hamilton, NJ. The bedrock in this area is mostly Cretaceous, but there are many glacial deposits. The part of the rock that looks like a fossil has a central line and smaller lines coming off of it, which made me think that it could be a conulariid that got there by a glacier (I'm probably wrong). Also, the side that has the fossil-like thing touches the adjacent side at almost a right angle. Can you please identify it? Thank you in advance!

Hello all, I found the following (possible) Hoploparia sp. tail, abdomen section, and partial claw/arm on a recent trip in NJ. I haven't seen too many of these posted so I thought I would share. I also included a video to show how much is exposed on each side. Thanks for viewing. VID_178761207_233632_277.mp4

Hi Everyone, Found this small tooth yesterday in a NJ stream that mostly exposes Eocene and Miocene, but also contains Pleistocene material. Its small but clearly fossilized. What do you think? Thanks, John

Hi Guys, I find a fair amount of these rocks/conceptions in one of the streams I hunt in. They are very dense and appear as if they are melted. I took some home and found they are magnetic. Any name for these? Thanks, John

Hi. I am over the moon with this find. I usually find only find 10-20 teeth on the beach each summer. I have only found 3 teeth all summer on the beach. Mainly because I am spending more time with the kids than searching. But tonight was low tide…. Three steps into looking….. so excited it’s 1 inch and perfect!!!!!

Hi Everyone, I found this in an NJ stream where I have found other Pleistocene mammal material. Not sure if this bone is modern or not. I think this is half of a large atlas vertebrae. It also appears to have a cut/saw mark.

Hi Everyone, looking for confirmation if this is a Squalodon tooth. It’s only half the tooth with very little root. It was found in a stream with Miocene exposures. Thanks, John

Hi everyone, looking for some ID help on these mammal teeth. The first tooth on left was found in NC. The 2 teeth on the right were found in NJ. The middle tooth I think is a modern deer, the other 2 appear to be a lot older.

Hi. All these are out of the ordinary finds for me and I need some help with IDing. I think I know, which means I am wrong and need help. Thanks as always for any feedback. 1. 100% retile tooth. It stinks that it is all beat up but I will take it! I am thinking croc but maybe plesiosaur 2. I believe this is a reptile toe bone? Anyone know what type? it a little over a half an inch
