    Possible jaw

Good afternoon, I found this item while fossil hunting at Onslow Beach located in Jacksonville, North Carolina. It seems to have 3 tooth sockets, two relatively close together and the single socket located more forward on the specimen. Is this part of a jaw bone or has my imagination run wild? The mat is showing inches so appx 4.5 inches by 3 inches. Thank you very much for any assistance in ID the item.
  2. Found in high tide line of Onslow Beach, North Carolina. Very dense and has one smooth, glossy edge (last picture). Height ≈ 9cm, Length ≈ 8-8.5cm, Width ≈ 3cm. Any help is appreciated.
  3. Found on Onslow Beach, North Carolina. Any help on identification is appreciated. At first I thought it was a really worn shark tooth but now I believe it is far to thick to be a tooth and my geology professor won’t tell me what it is until next week lol. The only thing he told me was it’s much neater than a shark tooth.

    Having some trouble identifying these

Hello, all, Thank you for clicking into this thread and looking at the below images. I found them over the last few years, but I just realized recently that the two on the left were more similar than the one on the right. (Are they shark teeth? They’re in such bad shape, I can’t match their shape.) The fourth item beneath these three I found about two weeks ago. I would love to know what they were if anyone could identify any of them. If you need more angles or different pictures, I am happy to oblige. I very much appreciate any feedback. Thank you!

    Need help ID multiple Items

Hi guys! I’m new to this, but my wife and I have been shark tooth hunting for the past month thanks to “quarantine”. We have found some interesting things, but can’t seem to pin point what they are exactly. We believe some may be megalodon teeth, great white teeth, and a dugong bone. All were found at Onslow beach,NC. We appreciate your guys help!

ID request round items on rock

Good morning, this item is cross posted on Facebook. This cool rock was found in the surf at Onslow Beach in Jacksonville NC. There are Gastropods, unidentified shell and mystery circles/ovals by the hundreds if not thousands. My question is what are these little round areas? The rock is shown wet in order to bring out the features listed. Size 1.5” x 1”. The rock is smooth to touch despite seeing texture in photo. Thank you in advance!

    Bone ID request

Good afternoon, I have now found a total of four bones with this same shape. Found in Jacksonville, NC at Onslow Beach. I posted one over a year ago that was too worn to identify. Since then I have found these three with two in much better shape. Any idea what this bone has come from in relation to location on body and hopefully what animal? Thank you

    Possible tooth-unknown species

Good afternoon, on a recent trip to Onslow Beach located in Jacksonville, NC I found several interesting items. I will list each separately. I have researched each item and will provide my thoughts on identification. Please feel free to correct me and or provide greater guidance as I am a true beginner. My third item- I believe this item is a small tooth. The shape appears correct however, I have not seen one that looks like this specimen coming from this location. The specimen is very shiny- even when dry as seen in the attached photos. Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated.

    Possible Turtle Humerus Bone

Good afternoon, on a recent trip to Onslow Beach located in Jacksonville, NC I found several interesting items. I will list each separately. I have researched each item and will provide my thoughts on identification. Please feel free to correct me and or provide greater guidance as I am a true beginner. My second item- I believe this item is a turtle humerus bone. The size, shape and slight twist appear to be correct however, I am not very confident in my ID do the species and bone type. Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated.

    Possible Mammoth Tooth Fragment

Good afternoon, on a recent trip to Onslow Beach located in Jacksonville, NC I found several interesting items. I will list each separately. I have researched each item and will provide my thoughts on identification. Please feel free to correct me and or provide greater guidance as I am a true beginner. My first item- I believe this item is a small fragment of mammoth tooth. The ridging appears correct however the fragment I’d very thin/small so not very confident in my ID. Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated.

    Onslow Beat, NC

I am new to fossil identification and was wondering if it’s possible to identify bone fragments found on the shore? Recently there have been a lot of bone fragments along the shore of Onslow Beach, NC and I was trying to identify them. Also, I found this tooth, but haven’t ever found any this large of this shape. Is it possibly a bull shark? Thank you so much for your time
  12. Not sure if this is a mineral sample or a worn down tooth of some type. It was found on 1-3-2018. Height 5cm, length and width 4 1/2 cm. Definitely grooves on the top with brown color running top to bottom between the grooves. Has similar indentations on the top to a tooth. Very worn along the sides and bottom. Found on Onslow beach in North Carolina.

    A Birthday Gift

From the album: Onslow Beach, Camp LeJeune, NC

I got up to watch the sun rise on the beach on my birthday. When it was fully up over the water, I looked down at my feet and this was lying there. It's the biggest tooth I've ever found and it was just...there.

    Just a few little things

From the album: Onslow Beach, Camp LeJeune, NC

This was just a small portion of what I picked up over the weekend. In two days, with very little time spent on the beach, I had more than I could carry in bones, fossilized shell, holly stones and teeth. (on a side note, I've always been a little concerned about that reddish fossilize bone in the lower middlish spot of the photo)

    My hunting partner

From the album: Onslow Beach, Camp LeJeune, NC

He really doesn't find much, but he's a great companion and he's always up for an adventure.
