A really nice and fantastic preserved Palaeoniscus from an old site, Quirnbach in Rhino-Palatina. Size is around 16 cm. Normally you do not find them in this condition with supergreat fins and scale. We found one, not in the field, in an old collection. And are happy to have it!- 1 comment

The fossils of these two ginkgophyte species come from the Koshelyovskaya Formation, located near Mazuyevka, Perm Krai. The sediments in the area are 276 million years old, which corresponds to the middle part of the Kungurian age of the Permian period. Psygmophyllum expansum Psygmophyllum intermedium

a big and rare Rhabdolepis from a closed site. Found long time ago... Length is around 28 cm, thats a big one. Rhabdolepis is very uncommon and today impossible to find -
Here’s a fun one. I found this tooth in some glacial deposits in NW Missouri, and these said deposits are known to have ‘Pleistocene’, ‘Cretaceous’, and ‘Permian’ animals…. which does not make fossil ID easy . In my opinion, this is a fish tooth due to the lack of carinae. However could it be a reptile tooth despite this? I’ve never found anything like before, so I’m a bit helpless with fish teeth If fish tooth, what kind? Thank you!

The skull of this animal was found in the village of Zeglud, in the Udmurt Republic (Russia) by the local kids, back in ~2008. They later gave this skull to their school's principal. After some time, a man studying at the Udmurt State University saw this skull and brought it into the university's museum. Years later, the skull was extracted from the rock and identified as that of an undescribed species of Syodon. The latest news are from 2019, and the papers about the specimen were supposed to be published in 2020, but as of yet, nothing has seemingly been published. Photos by Alexander Bakayev.
