I took an older Facebook friend to the North Sulphur River Texas today who hasn't been in over 20 years. His goal was to find one last arrowhead in the river. We had a pretty good morning and he found a nice Gary point. The partial plesisoaur paddle was the find of the day in my opinion. We stayed within sight of the bridge and and only hunted a few hours but had some cool finds.

I had a great day on the North Sulphur River Texas. I kayaked a few miles but found most of my quality items right by the first bridge and surrounded by tracks. The shark verts were in situ coming out of the clay. I only found 3 but I feel more will come out with another rise. I will come back and check the location. The big piece of turtle shell looked like old metal in the water so I'm sure people had been walking over it. The mosasaur tooth is nice but broken on one side. The artifacts were a nice bonus.

Morning Northeast Texas creek hunt.

After working 28 thirteen hour days offshore I couldn't wait any longer to hunt so I headed to my favorite Northeast Texas creek. The temp when I left was 20 degrees which is really cold for my area. The creek was frozen but I had still had some area to hunt. I walked for miles and didn't find much then ended up finding everything around the bridge where I parked lol. I found more artifacts than fossils but did manage to find a Mosasaur vert & Mastodon tooth enamel.

Well I'm not sure it's gets any better than today trip to NSR. @Jakuzi and I got an early start and were walking down the river at first light. We walked for well over an hour. It was exauhsting but proved to be worth the effort. The weather was overcast with a cool breeze and it was time for some hunting. Right off the bat, my buddy found a nice size vert. I found the biggest one I've ever found shortly after his. Then two more smaller ones. I was still mainly focused on trying to find my first point. At last it appears to me by chance and I could not believe my eyes. I could have easily missed this one. While sitting there holding it, I thought about the history of this point and wondered to whom it belonged and how it had come to rest in this very spot. Truly a magical moment in my life. If anyone knows the aproximent age or any further details about this point or any of the other finds, your feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks

September 20th, 2009 In the search for fossils and other treasure, rain can be friend or foe. However, given the historic drought that is affecting most of Texas, you cannot complain about the rain these days. A friend and I decided to see if we could leverage the rain's recent effects on a heavily collected waterway in our state. We ended up rescuing several finds from nature's grinder. During our excursion, I tried to take advantage of the digital video capability on my camera...it might have taken advantage of me. I cobbled together a montage of video, photos, and text to give you a chance to see a memorable trip.... We were hoping for some mosasaur material and Pleistocene presents, but if you want to take a look, we found... .
