One of a number of spiral monograptids from this period and a zone species, these have all been referred to Monograptus at various times as well as separate genera based on rhabdosome form which may not be of significant importance. It is bisected by an unidentified straight Monograptus. Reference for ID (as Monograptus spiralis): Elles & Wood 1901-1918, Monograph on British Graptolites, Pal. Soc. Monograph 33.
