These were covered in a thick coating of lime, I cleaned them up along with all other pieces I post. It looks like a piece an extremity to me. Any possible identification would be great, thanks

Hello! I found this fossil(hopefully) in Jonesborough, TN last Friday. It came out of a footer dug in red clay soil no more than 4' deep. I kept finding small pieces of what looked like flint here and there and I was just excited about that because I had never found that type of rock before. I decided to search for a bigger sample and found this and was ecstatic! I have no experience with fossils other than finding shark teeth at Myrtle Beach, SC. It would be wonderful to hear knowledgeable people discover what this could be and I really appreciate any help!

Need help identifying if this is just a rock or something else
Kyleigh Hope posted a topic in Fossil ID
In my backyard, I found this rock that was uncovered by recent rainstorms. It has strange "zig-zag" marks along some of the sides, and looks to be porous. I cleaned it off and did a tongue test, and the majority stuck to my tongue. The part that didn't was the noticeably smooth part shown in what I believe to be the 6th photo. My question: Is this just a rock, or could it be something else?- 2 replies
