We have purchased airfare for a trip to England in mid May. It is likely my one and only time to visit England. The majority of our time will be in the southern parts to allow my wife to fulfil her Beatles fetish and my Stonehenge desires. But we will be traveling up to the Yorkshire Coast and staying in Whitby for a few days. This is where I am allowed to devote my time to fossil hunting! From my understanding, hunting is not an all day happening due to the tides. So I want to make the most of my time. There is a guide, who takes groups out, that is available to help in Runswick Bay. Having watched many videos, I am wondering if the guide would be necessary. It just seems like with such a short time to hunt, would the guide help or hinder my success? Also, I have explored information on Sandsend, Ravenscar, Runswick, and Saltwick. Which site might be most productive for me. My desires are not to go home with a ton of fossils, but maybe a nice ammonite or two. This may help in where you may suggest I visit. Also, I came across Hayburn Wyke which is noted for plant fossils, something I love collecting. If plants are not uncommon, I thought of visiting there the second day. I am ALL EARS and would greatly appreciate any guidance that you could offer. Also, any dining suggestions in Whitby? Just message me if needed. Thanks so much, Mike

I just posted a video of a trip I made recently to sandsend, Yorkshire. No super special finds but the scenery is stunning as usual.

I decided to film one of my trips while collecting on the Yorkshire Coast near Whitby. I had some good finds Hope you enjoy.

I decided to have a steady walk to sandsend today. There is a large carpark and then we walked towards the left up some steps. If you want a sandy beach you can go to the right (no fossils here though) After a 15 minute walk you come to an old tunnel (bottom right) You do not go through the tunnel and go down the steps on your right. (Top) near the bottom these steps are very steep espeically with a bag full of fossils. Once on the beach i spent a good few hours looking around. The only people i saw on the beach were fossil hunters, others just go to the easy access sandy beach i think I found alot of bone or wood? Maybe you guys can tell me if any is bone. I found lots of nodules, but they are very hard and I had no good breaks on the beach. But notice the nodule on the left, hopfully its a nice one. The little ammonite on the top right is on a nice nodule also. Overall a great day out, and the rain stayed off until i left!

Just got back from a lovely sandsend fossil trip. i found afew boney/woody pieces on the beach. I wonder if anyone can tell the difference because i have trouble. This is probably the most interesting.

Hi please help me Identify my find, this was found near whitby Yorkshire, it looks similar to my ammonite collection but I never seen one with a closed end before so I'm stump to what it is, thanks Mike
