    Macrocephalites macrocephalus

Found loose and already broken at Cayton Bay Scarborough. Matrix of ooliths about 0.4mm. Grid of 1cm squares Referred to plate 33:2 in British Mesozoic Fossils, Natural History museum, British Museum. Plate Very similar to my find except that the rate of increase in whorl fattening is greater than illustrated. Lateral tubercules correct. However every photo I've seen of M. macrocephalus has no tubercules. Is it what I've found in the book? The book was published in 1975.

  3. Thinking of popping up to Whitby or Scarborough next week although the conditions for finds I'm assuming haven't been great given the serene conditions down south. How have conditions been on the Yorkshire coast?
  4. Hello, I recently went fossil hunting at Cayton Bay near Scarborough, UK (Part of the Jurassic Coast). I found this (see attached Photos) and was wondering what it might be? The two photos show the fossil from different angles. Any help you could give would be much appreciated. Best regards, Alan.
  5. This week I got my monthly TTC Monthly Metropass for the first time ever and so with this card in my wallet I was excited that I had unlimited freedom to use the transit to go wherever I want in the city of Toronto for the whole September. Yesterday, while travelling with my card in wallet in Scarborough after finishing an assessment, I came across a creek right at Progress Drive and went down to explore it, in hopes of coming across the Whitby formation. I had seen bits of information regarding outcrops of the Whitby in Scarborough on the net, and I took this opportunity to explore as I live

    Fossil Driftwood

From the album: Urban Fossils of Toronto (Georgian Bay Formation, Lower Member)

Fossil driftwood from an unnamed tributary that feeds into Highland Creek. Top photo is top side, bottom is the bottom view. Scarborough formation, Early Wisconsinan, Pleistocene. Found on an outcrop of the creek near Progress Drive, Scarborough, Toronto. Finally! I determined what the outcrop was. Does anybody else in the forum have hunted or hunt in the Pleistocene of Scarborough?

  7. I found a great place to find fossils in Scarborough, Ontario Canada practically in my back yard, the bad part is there is no parking or convenient bus stops near by. I have enclosed a picture of where the location is if you care to visit it.
  8. I was wondering if anyone knows of any great locations in Scarborough to look for fossils that are easily accessible by foot. The reason I ask is I am semi-disabled and requires a cane for walking, meaning very steep hills are out the question for me until Scarborough Parks a Rec provide a shuttle to and from the Bluffs for those that want to go there but can not. I have done good so far in my fossil hunting and would love to explore new areas. I truly love fossil hunting and its quickly become a passion for me to explore a long lost world of what was to better understand it and share part of

    Is This A True Fossil?

I was fossil hunting along one of Scarborough's many rivers and found this odd piece of coral and was wondering if its a true fossil or someone tossing a fish tank. The odd thing it was under alot of heavy stones. I am stumped
