Howdy all, I have this amethyst geode that I'm considering sealing with linseed oil, because I find that would bring out the colors in the basalt better. Is this a good idea, or should I consider another type of sealer?

Hi there! I am brand new to the forum, but have been a fossil lover all my life. I am hoping to learn the best way to preserve sandstone leaf fossils. I've been finding them since I was a kid and my mother use to coat they in polyurethane, I believe. I'm just not convinced this is the best practice. I imagine the chemicals would deteriorate the stone overtime? Anyways, I would appreciate any and all advice. Thanks in advance! Dea

I found this rock and I want to try and preserve it before all of the fossils fall out (it has numerous surface micro fossils in layers, ?mass mortality). It's in the shape of a triangular pyramid and fossil layers are prominent on the front and one side. I considered trying to exposing the fossils on the back but I think it may be better having a side I can pick it up by without losing fossils. Is there a best sealant/protector for this type of piece? TIA for your time and help.

I'm looking for suggestions and recommendations on how to repair this fossil I just found. It's got 4 crabs and an insect on the matrix, but it is cracking on top in several places, and it will fall apart easy if I'm not extremely careful. What is the best way to seal these cracks? Glue? What kind? Thanks in advance for help.

Hi everyone, I am new to this forum and have been loving it. I found a very fragile ammolite preserved in mudstone (I believe) and I want to seal it to preserve it and prevent it from falling apart. What can I use? Can resin/epoxy be used?

I'm told the middle fish is a Knightia. Any ideas about what the other 2 are? Also, When I'm done preparing this, how can I darken the fossils and seal it up? It's in oil-shale. Thanks!

Me and the family did a trip this summer to Wyoming and picked up some nice fish fossils. I want to use them on my new BBQ islands backsplash but I want them to last. What is a hardcore sealer I can use. It’s outside, no cover, I live in soCal so temp is 40s to 90s, but 70s 10 mths out of the year, no snow and little rain ty
