Hello everyone! My name is Lily and I'm happy to be joining the forum. I think I may have found my first fossil! I don't want to get my hopes up but I'm pretty excited. Out of my 20 years on this Earth of picking up random rocks in hopes of finding a fossil, I think I finally did it. I found it in Southern Illinois about 30 mins from STL, MO while I was gardening for my grandma. I dug a shallow hole for the plant & hit the rock. I can try to get clearer pictures if needed. Let me know if you need any more information as well. I'd like to know everything you can tell me about it! Thanks so much

So I have decided to do some exploration digs in my area (Salem County) just because there isn’t much mentioned for spots and it’s not more than 1 hour in any direction for me to search. Found an area with a little help from some other individuals and the ROCKD app that put me on the Vincentown formation and had a slight success. Mostly found coral but did come up with this. Possible spike or claw? It is roughly 1 and 1/2” long. Just trying to see what it could be as not much is found in my area as of late.

Hello everyone. My husband and I found this today while combing the creek bed of the Escondido Creek located in Encinitas, California, USA. We believe it is a tooth. It looks quite old, however I am not sure whether it is fossilized. We are not fossil hunters or collectors, just everyday amateurs who stumbled upon this find. Any help identifying it would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
