Hi all, Recently came back from a fossil hunting trip from a Miocene age deposit. Was looking through some of my finds and noticed that what I believe to be sand tiger (Carcharias taurus) teeth have striations on them. I am fairly new to shark teeth collecting and was wondering if only sand tiger's have them as I have not seen them on other genus. Wondering if anyone here that is more knowledgeable could shed light. Thanks in advance.

Found in Jackson County Missouri (I didn't find it myself, but I can most likely get more info on location it was found.) I do believe it was found in a dirt road alley. Long dark grey and brown striations, that cannot be scratched with my nail. Then on one side in a few large chunks, an orange/brown (rust colored) residue, that can be scratched off. I thought my pictures were going to look much better than this. So I can get better pictures ASAP if need be. Let me know any other information I need to provide. Thank you for looking! I have been unsuccessful in getting information about this on the general internet (the All-Knowing Google failed me, AGAIN! ). How in the world can you tell if a rock that you have in hand is a stromatolite as opposed to just a rock with striations- like agate or something? Especially if the stromatolite has had a section cut and polished?

Hi, I found this while looking through some North American cretaceous gravel along with a serrated rex tooth fragment. Does anyone think it's a pterosaur tooth or a mineral, apologies if the pictures aren't good thanks in advance.

Posting for an acquaintance. Someone claims this is a mammoth tusk, and they're 100% certain. I'm not so sure. I've seen mammoth tusks in museums, and up close and personal digging one out of the dirt. I don't remember longitudinal striations like this object has. Can anyone tell me what it might really be? Or confirm if it's actually a segment of a mammoth tusk? Best pictures I've got, 3rd party source.
