From the album: North Sulphur River
This mosasaur bone mineralized in a way that more details of the finer bone structures are preserved. This sample shows osteocytes, which are rings seen around holes where blood vessels used to be. -
From the album: North Sulphur River
Closeup of mosasaur bone. This specimen has mineralized in such a way that the crystals form in planes, so that they reflect light at a given angle creating a glassy flash. This phenomenon is not captured in the photo. -
I can't find any pictures of dino skull bone structure. Does anyone have any, or know where to find any cross sections, or pictures of skull fragments where you can see the internal structure? Preferably the forehead/top

Just for fun: "According to Darcy Thompson [2] the appearance of Fibonacci numbers in biology is not due to some mysterious force. It can be accounted for by “the action of forces that lie in the steady production of similar parts, similarly situated, at similar successive intervals of time, and in consequence this gives rise to symmetrical patterns depending on the form of the entire surface.” " http://file.scirp.org/Html/4-8301619_18625.htm

Hello, im trying to identify a large fragmented vertabrea I found, I have emailed so many pictures to museums with all info I had, but so far most have said that it's probably bipeodal. there is a lot of marrow or honeycomb structure exposed and a lot of bone surface and my question is this: is there a way to distinguish between carnivors and herbivores through the type of bone structure ( size, shape, direction?) just thinking that two different types of food would produce some sort of difference in bone growth? the bones are from England and roughly 130 myo I'm really hoping there is a way u can tell the difference. Please help thanks
