Hi guys, my names Dean. I just joined this forum, I always loved fossils, all kinds, I love anything with history tbh, however my knowledge is not on a par with my enthusiasm!haha I do love to learn though so I'm hoping you can help with this.... I was at the beach today and found what I thought was an agate, I wanted to see how far it spread so broke open the 'rock' which turned out to be more of a compacted clay type substance, so just washed off with water and light scraping. I've attached some pics and eagerly await your response, even if it isn't what I think it is.lol thanks for your time reading this and hope you all have an awesome day!

Hey y’all, it’s been awhile, hope y’all have been safe!! I found this in my driveway while looking at all the cool rocks that have been flooded to the surface in the past year. I’m 1/10 of mile to the water of Elk River at the Eastern most point of Lauderdale County North Alabama and Limestone Co. Our town boundaries are all water ways except north which ends at Giles Co, Tennessee. So it’s not hard to be close to the waterways, Elk River, and the banks. and that’s where all of the house on my road get there driveways lol (don’t tell TVA). My ruler is hiding but I have a 3x6 envelope and it’s about 3 in wide, 2 in high and 2 in deep. It looks like a sponge fossil puffball but those lines all connect beautifully with no stragglers. The light/ bright yellow lines are raised so it looks embossed, but it’s natural and the fissure does have small crystals present.

I can't thank everyone enough. The information I found in the articles, written by some of you, was a major help with preserving a Mamoth tooth I had committed myself to sell for a friend. As of last Tuesday, the tooth is now in possession of it's new owner & he's excited to see the others that I have. I listed it on a certain auction site & set the bid high (twice what past sales of others had brought). It's been a few months since I started the listing. I brought it down $10 to $25 each time I relisted and then stayed on the price when people started watching it. I packed it carefully & thanks to the method I used, consisting of Duco & alcohol, it all stayed intact. Here's a picture for those who missed them the first time around.

I guys I have a large amount of unidentified fossils (40+). I was hoping you guys can Identify them for me. All were found in eastern NC (Aroura or Emerald Isle beach) Thanks, for any help. I have them numbered for easy reference. I also have them next to quarters and pennies for size reference. The quarter is 1 inch tall and wide and pennies are .75 inch tall and wide I can take more pics upon request 1.

Similar boat to Naturthusiast - my little guy is old enough to want to go hunting for cool rocks, hidden California gold, and any fossils he's sure are just outside the playground's sandbox. Started out looking for places to rockhound, which bled over into fossils. I figured I should start my learning process beyond ineffective google keyword searches, and admit I have little to no grasp on anything. I haven't searched the forums much yet, so my immediate questions like 'what <soil? rock? earth? other?> features should I look for when out and about' are likely both ignorant and already asked. I'll get to work now...
