I saw some embedded videos in another post so, I thought I should test adding a prep time lapse just to see if I can get it to work. IMG_1771.mov

I've make quit a few video's in the last year or so. This one is about all the tools and things I use to prep fossils along with examples and lots of info. Its a bit long at 44 minutes but even that was not near enough time to get every thing in. It was also one of my most fun video's to make. I was either sitting at my prep bench taking video clips or sittin at my computer editng for 2 days! That was the longest amount of time I've spent on making a video but probably the most fun I've had doing it. If you enjoy this half as much as I did making it, then my job is done here. Enjoy https://youtu.be/GUESK2qOjqE

I asked the members here a lot of questions, and read through every thread on building a prep box, some of them many times. Even though I finished the box last year, I finally got off my lazy butt and finished the video. Thank you all for your help! Hopefully this can give some ideas or help the next member looking to build their own.

My oldest boy went to school to become a videographer. Not sure how to spell that or if that is what its called but he is visiting for the xmas holiday and we are busy making fossil prep video's. This morning we are going to finish shooting the opening for my first real fossil prep video. I absolutely GUARANTEE anyone and everyone that they are not only going to think this is the most exciting, most impressive, most awesome, most everything a video can be but will also be 100% astounded!!! I may be a bit biased, but you be the judge. It may be out by xmas day? For anyone who knows me, expect the most awesome twist a fossil prep video can have. This will be a first! I guarantee it!!! RB

I recently started a new YouTube channel exclusively for hosting my fossil hunting and prepping content. A lot of people who are new to fossil prep are curious about how other people set up their work areas and what tools to use, so I made my first video to discuss at this topic.

Yes, that title is correct I finally got my video finished and uploaded from last year's trip to South Dakota. This is a trip my son and I started making back in 2009 when he was 8 years old. Its always a fun time, with road trips and tourist trap stops, camping, exploring on top of the fossil hunt. The trip was awesome with us digging at a new quarry wall, lots of great fossils, but my gopro overheated a couple times and ate some of my footage. So I ended up putting this video edit on hold while I tried to decide what direction to take, and then I started prepping, and then I wanted to wait until I had the biggest pieces finished out to show.

Over the years, people have asked for some prep videos. My new blast box allows me to conveniently set my phone on the glass and run a time lapse video. Unfortunately, the files are too big to post directly so the links below will take you to my Instagram where you can watch the riveting videos. They are short since this is a test. Video Video

Good Shows about Fossils/ natural history?
SimpleCollector100 posted a topic in General Fossil Discussion
Hi, I know back when cable was big there were channels like the discovery channel, history channel, etc. Anyone have a good list of shows that are good in terms of factual educational content of things like natural history + fossils? I am happy to pay for these shows/videos. Youtube is also welcomed. Audio books are another option but I prefer video. Thank you -
What's become of our great Wild Kyle and Paleo Chris hunting in the Floridian jungle videos? I know the rivers are probably swollen, but that has never stopped our boys from finding great things roadside. Alright, I don't really care where they are, I just miss the duck!

Found this video on Youtube, and thought it was pretty ingenious. I like the DIY blaster box idea, as well. Thought it might be an option for those of us who cannot break the bank to do our own fossil prep. This has given me some ideas to try out. Hope this helps someone out. Good luck!

See this very interesting video that takes us around the world looking for historical sites with high radiation levels. Which persons do you think encounter the highest radiation levels: paleontologists collecting radioactive fossils; astronauts; nuclear plant workers? The answer shocked me.

I was searching around the Internet today and I came across a recent video on YouTube called "Trilobite Takedown". It was a seminar given by Melanie Hopkins (Assistant Curator- Division of Paleontolgy- AMNH) and posted on 2-27-18. I am not positive if it is the complete seminar, but the 19 minutes that were posted, was very informative to a mostly non-trilobite collector and Ms. Hopkins is a very good speaker. @Kane and @piranha I think you would enjoy this video. BTW- I do not know how to add links to posts like this, I am lucky I can turn on my computer.

If you have a couple of hours you might check out the below YouTube video of my son Mel’s fossil collection. It really is worth the time. The end of the video also has some of my son Marco’s collection. There maybe a YouTube advertisement in the beginning that you can skip after a few seconds. Let me know what you think of the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-aNgZnEaTDY&feature=youtu.be Marco Sr.

Aron Ra's "Systematic Classification of Life" is up to the 19th episode and he's still in the Permian Period! There's lots of detail and just enough subtle humor thrown in to keep it fun while we learn which branches our own tree-sap comes from. Here is the newest video but don't skip ahead if you haven't been keeping up. It can be hard to keep track of all of our ancestors when there are so many. This just got published today and there's a new one every few days so start at episode 1 now and maybe number 20 will be done when you're finished.

I have had this fossil encrusted rock since the 1990's and I thought rather than photograph it again I would make a video, as if I was flying over it. No drone was involved however, I just used my Canon compact.
