Big piece of skin, is this actual mammoth skin? Seller says it's from Yakutia.

Short of performing a DNA test, there is no way of verifying this.

 

Verification by photos is not possible.

I've never seen anything like this for sale before but like Tim said a DNA test is really the only way and I'd also be concerned about owning skin of an animal if its not mammoth

DNA or being the one to dig it up with the bones as to confirm species ID

A DNA test may no longer work and where to get the reference material? A C14 radiocarbon dating would be better. The cost is between 200 and 500€ (at least in Germany).
