NSR Fish Jaw Bone?

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

Found this yesterday on the NSR. That would be Texas, Ozan  formation. I think it is a fish jawbone but I am no where near and expert. Is it a jaw bone. If so, any idea of species. If not, what is it?

Thanks for your help.

Part of a fish face.

I agree with @JarrodB, that brown-colored slightly shiny flaky texture is a pretty common signifier for fish fragments at the river, but of course without actual tooth sockets in view you can't really be certain that it's part of a jawbone. A section of one of the many interlocking parts of a large fish's face would be my guess too.
