There are some great dinosaur sites in Utah, but generally all BLM land... so not open to private collecting. If you don't mind jumping up into the Eocene, Bonanz is great for leaves and insects.

I haven't been out there for 30 years, but BLM used to allow surface collecting of invertebrates. Is that not true anymore?

Still true; required by law, as a matter of fact. :)

Inverts are OK, but dinosaurs and other verts.. off limits on BLM land. And you are not allowed to sell or trade any inverts collected on BLM land. It is for personal collecting only.
