Fossilized Nut?

Found this in the Chesapeake Bay, Miocene period.  To me it looks like a nut with division of hemispheres.  Rock hard. Thoughts?

I would think cast as well, but whatever it is, it's pretty cool looking! Neat find!

Definitely a internal mold of a bivalve.

Yeah, a cast, and it looks like chert or calcite.

And it is likely in the Cardiidae family, common name "cockle shell".

It looks like hyperostosed fish bone to me. What size is it? Is it possible for you to take a close up to show the texture better?
