Post Oak Creek-Sherman, Texas

Recommended Posts

I uncovered this strange formation down in the water of Post Oak Creek in Sherman, Texas. Any ideas of what it may be?

Welcome to the Forum. :)

This looks geological, to me, rather than fossil

I am, admittedly, unfamiliar with your area, however.

Wait for some local opinions. ;)

I'm leaning towards geological but if a rock it's a pretty cool one that I'd be proud to have.

Ive brightened the images a little.

You can find septarian concretions in the Post Oak so this may be a heavily worn one. If you live in the DFW area you might bring it to the Dallas Paleontological Society meeting Wednesday so some actual geologists can have a closer look. Details here:

There will be real paleontologists present too but most of us are amateurs and the public is welcome.

Thank you so much for your help, Bob! I just looked that up, and I do see the similarity for sure! I would love to attend one of the meetings in the future. :)
