Does anyone here know of any sites here in Western Kentucky to look for fossils? I know they are around here somewhere because our local museum has a mastodon skeleton recovered from the Ohio River. Any suggestions?

I seem to recall some outcrops on the Natcher Parkway that might produce some plant and invertebrate stuff. I looked at the map, and you have Pennsylvanian rocks in that area. I believe they are homologous to the Penn. rocks of Eastern Ky.

Look for shale and limestone in the Cyclothems.

Most of the vertebrate stuff is found in Quaternary alluvium(unconsolidated river deposits).

Don't know much about Kentucky, but there is alot of material across the rivers in Missouri and Illinois.

From a quick glance at a map of your area, the areas I highlighted on the map might produce some invertebrates and/or plant material.

Be careful, that is a busy highway.
