Fern Glen rugose corals. I need some help/information.

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have any information on the roguse corals found at the Fern Glen formation? I can only find one but the ones I have found there look nothing like the one in the photos. Mine all look like the "normal" tornado shapes. The Fern Glen is Mississippian.

Here is the photos I'm talking about Amplexus sp.

I just did a prep on one (maybe my best prep yet) it's just a common and not even a good specimen, but I tried some different techniques. I'll post it tomorrow after everything dries and sets in. It turned out better than I thought but I will welcome critiques.

Here is an excellent monograph:

Weller, S. 1909

Kinderhook faunal studies - V: The fauna of the Fern Glen Formation.

Thanks. At first I was bummed because I only seen the first book. Then I noticed there were a lot more pages to the PDF. I believe I have settled on Zaphrentis cliffordana. It's the only thing in the plates and from the reading that matches.
