Exogyra vs Gryphaea

Recommended Posts

I'm studying fossils and I'm having a difficult time understanding the visual(and structural) differences between Exogyra and Gryphaea.  Any insights would be very much appreciated! :)

Not sure if you came across this at all.

Without using pictures i would say that in Gryphaea the lower, or larger, shell curves back up over the hinge point. In Exogyra the shell coils like a snail down and away from the hinge.
