fossil teeth in matrix mystery

I have this piece, which sadly I do not know much about, being that it was acquired at an estate sale and had no info. I have not been able to find something similar looking online, except for maybe a small section of teeth from a helicoprionid shark? The piece is about 6 x 7" and the teeth(?) are about 1/2" in length.

I am thinking this may not even be teeth at all.

Not sure but that matrix and teeth definitely look like an Oreodont skull/jaw partial.  I'm not very familiar with mammal fossils, but they show up so often on the site.  Just run a search.

Cheers,

Brett

You know ... there must've been lots of them running around ... because folks are always showing them off. And prepping them .. which makes one :envy:

I believe you are correct! Looks very much like Oreodont teeth. Thank you!
