Bought a fossil online. Wanted to know if it is real or not. I'm a new member, so ignore my lack of knowledge on these things.:thumbsu:

It is real and is from the split fish layer from the Green river Formation.:)

These are rarely faked, but far too often sellers will fill in the bodies or create fins with paint/stain to "enhance" the look.  

I much rather prefer the natural look of your specimens as found from nature.
