Little Help? Came from the Peace River north of Arcadia.

Water level very low, was able to pick this up literally off the bottom while walking thru the shallow  water.

looks like a fish vertebra:)

Every once in a great while it's not just a big rock down there!

I agree - this is a hyperostotic fish vertebra.

Wow that is fantastic, thanks, and thanks for the link for further info. Had absolutely no idea. It is definitely a unique addition to our collection.

The kids and I were in a less traveled area of the Peace River in FL this past week, and the water levels were low enough that we simply walked and

scavenged the bottom before doing anything else. In addition to this vertebra, we picked up a dozen dugong ribs, a scapula, a femur, and a few teeth,

just by looking down and walking/wading a systematic grid line. Very satisfying day, and adding the vertebra is a big bonus, not something I have seen before.

Thanks again!
