New Members Valerie44 Posted March 16 New Members Posted March 16 Hello, thank you in advance for any help identifying. I found these on the cherokee lake bed in Northeast Tennessee Hawkins county they are extremely hard and after washing don't change in appearance. Are they fossils?
JamieLynn Posted March 16 Posted March 16 while I am not familiar with that area and what might be found there, I do not see anything fossil specifically. Typically fossils will have some kind of symmetry or obvious ornamentation that says they were once a living creature. This seems more geological to me. Others may weigh in with better knowledge, but it looks more like geologic iron deposition. 1 www.fossil-quest.com
TqB Posted March 16 Posted March 16 Maybe oncolites or similar, or maybe just concretions. Closer photos might help. 1 Tarquin
